RCE Penang at a Glance
RCE Penang is a United Nations recognised Reginal Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) that works in partnership with key stakeholders to bring about change for sustainability at the community level.
RCE Penang is not a physical centre or building, but a network of individuals, organisations and groups who are committed to building a more sustainable future through education and learning. Our network includes partners from the voluntary, public, education and business sectors, who work together to develop and implement innovative ESD projects and programmes in Penang.
Hosted by the University Sains Malaysia, RCE Penang is part of a growing global network of over a hundred RCE’s. The Global RCE Secretariat is based at the United Nations University - Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) in Tokyo, Japan. Local knowledge, expertise and best practices are shared globally through this large network and are able to be adapted and applied successfully in other regions.
